Throughout the nineties in Dakar, Vincent Michéa co-founded the label 100% Dakar and collaborated with DKR Studios. Vincent Michéa’s works are infused by several references to popular cultures. From Senegalese movie maker Ousmane Sembène to the Italian Marcello Mastroianni ; from Senegalese mbalax and its heady rythms to the architecture of popular neighbourhoud in Dakar, Vincent Michéa is painting with a sweet melanchooly places, people and and objects he cherishes. Through these images which have come to build his personal pantheon, Vincent Michéa is pushing us to explore a social and cultral history made of shared influences and fertile crossings.
