Sadikou Oukpedjo

Born in 1970 in Kétao, Togo.

Lives and works in Bingerville, Ivory Coast.

Sadikou Oukpedjo questions the notions of heritage in relation to contemporary issues such as the abuses of political power, social inequalities and religious conflicts.

A multidisciplinary artist, Sadikou Oukpedjo has developed a thorough and multifaceted research ever since the beginning of the 2010’s and has been widely exhibited in francophone West Africa. In 2014, back from the Dakar Biennale, he begins a series of works from which hybrid figures will then be presented in collaboration with Galerie Cécile Fakhoury in various contemporary art fairs and have joined prestigious contemporary African art collections ever since.

Trained at Togolese artist’s studio Paul Ahyi, a major figure of West-African modernities, Sadikou Oukpedjo finds himself in the continuity of West-African forms.
